Will I AmWith a little help from Chrysler, Black Eyed Peas front-man Will.I.Am has ventured into the world of car manufacture as he prepares to launch his range of IAMAUTO motors.

Derby, UK (Carbag.co.uk News) 22nd February 2012. The rap star revealed his plans to fellow motor aficionado Jay Leno live on air during an appearance on his show; however, details of the 'Vette', a coupe-styled two door Chrysler prototype are now widely available on the Internet.

Will.I.Am touched upon Chrysler's involvement:

" I went to Chrysler and got a whole bunch of parts to where it's still certified as a legal vehicle on the streets... I don't really mess with the airbag configurations or things like that. Kept the chassis and we create the shell, which is the body and the interior and the audio interface, I got Beats audio, it's sick, it's really fresh."

Originating from the mind of music production and rap legend Dr. Dre, the Beats audio system will surely produce the sweetest of sounds, but there's more to the West Coast Customs-made car than meets the ear!

Inspired by the 1958 Corvette, the Vette reflects Will.I.Am's sense of style and direction for the IAMAUTO range which will be kitted out with all the latest mod cons such as an iPad, Gameboy Advance charger and Nokia phone docking station.

Somewhat considerately the car also incorporates some inventive, environmentally friendly features including its refurbished disco-ball rotators which draw power the electric car via an old iPod... I know, amazing right?!

Whilst Will.I.Am's green thinking ways are admirable, his consideration extends beyond the environment, to the more familiar territory of the Los Angeles suburbs, specifically the famous West Coast Customs chop-shop.

This is what Will.I.Am had to say about it:

"I'm a big technology freak and geek and I invested my money in building my own vehicle because I want to bring jobs to the ghetto that I come from, so why not invest? Like I invested in making a demo to start the Black Eyed Peas, we did that, now I want to invest to have a car company in the neighbourhood that I come from."

It's hard to argue with a project that produces beautiful, (and yes 'pimped up') environmentally friendly cars and if the 'Vette' serves as an insight into IAMAUTO's future, it should be nothing short of bright!
