PART III - Maybach Revival

Daimler AG, the parent Company of Mercedes Benz, decided to compete in the top
luxury car market with Rolls-Royce (Owners BMW) and Bentley (Owners VW).
The car giant Mercedes Benz developed and built a concept car which was shown
at the 1997 Tokyo Motor Show under the brand name of Maybach.

The Maybach revival was under way.

Stages of the Maybach Luxury Cars Revival

1997 Tokyo Motor Show

Mercedes Benz exhibited a concept car under the brand name of Maybach. The
concept car was based on the Mercedes Benz S-Class Saloon. The first models
introduced were the Maybach 57 and Maybach 62.

2004 Introduction of the Brabus Maybach model

The fastest super luxury car was introduced by Brabus adding significant
performance to the 57 and 62 models, creating the Brabus Maybach model.

2005 Geneva Motor Show

The Maybach 57S was revealed. It was also shown at the Los Angeles
Auto Show 2006.

2005 – Tempodrom Berlin

The Maybach Exelero concept car was shown at the Tempodrom in Berlin for the first time. The Exelero is a two seater with a V12 engine producing 700 hp. The unique model was produced for Fulda Reifenwerke (Fulda Tyre Works), who is using the car to test the latest wide tyres. It is a highly individual model produced by an Italian prototype specialist company. During tests the Exelero reached speeds of up to 220 mph.

2011 – 81st International Auto Geneva

The XENATEC Coupé was presented at the 81st International Auto Saloon in Geneva in March 2011. It is based on the Maybach 57 and was built to a customer’s special requirements. The particular exterior paint finish makes it unique worldwide and the interior includes buffalo hide and nappa leather. Individual design is combined with superb craftsmanship.
