The Fiat 500 has come a long way since the original 1957 version designed by Dante Giacosa and marketed as the first "City Car". The new Fiat 500 (or Fiat Nuova 500) has a similar style though now drivers are given a choice of hatchback or convertible, a wealth of trim levels and colours, and various environmentally friendly engine options.
